This little poem is one of my favorites. Hey, I warned you I would say that at least 50 more times. I love this one because of the simplicity of it. It’s sexy, mysterious, and words fit for lovers who know how to love each other. Here is a mini-breakdown of my interpretation by line:
It’s the middle of the night.
Nighttime has a mystery behind it, it’s when the darkness surrounds you and intimacy can be at it’s most high time. The setting for this piece is the middle of the night when no one is around and life is quiet.
Darkness surrounds me and you.
These two lovers are no strangers to the night. They know each other, they know how to touch each other, and how to love each other. No one is around and it’s just the two of them in the dark. The darkness of the night surrounds these two and the feeling of desire is in the air between them.
The night knows both our names.
These two are no strangers to the night or to their desire for one another, the night knows both their names. They crave each other and are often wrapped up in intimacy while others are sleeping.
You’ve got your fingers on my body, and I’m in-between moaning your name.
The mystery here is so fun to me. This individual is being pleasured by someone else, nothing is disturbing them, it’s just the night and the feeling of hands touching skin. This poem leaves you on edge, in-between moaning a name.
